According to Moldova's Border Police, the incident occurred at approximately 09:38 on 5 October.

"The Border Police, together with the Customs Service, is continuously monitoring the situation in order to keep it under control and remains in contact with the competent Ukrainian authorities," the statement said.

People are strongly advised to refrain from travelling to the area. If they hear drones or explosions near the border, the authorities advise them to remain calm, take shelter indoors and rely exclusively on official sources for information.

People are also urged not to approach debris from aircraft, ammunition or other suspicious objects and to call the 112 emergency service immediately.
