A commercial vessel flying the flag of the Marshall Islands and carrying rapeseed oil has been damaged in a Russian drone strike.
Source: Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa Oblast Military Administration
Details: The attack sparked a fire in the vessel's superstructure, killed one person and injured seven others.
"By deliberately striking civilian shipping and port infrastructure, Russia is grossly violating international law and threatening global food security," Kiper said.
Background:
- On 5 October, Russian forces struck a Turkish-owned civilian vessel carrying maize in neutral waters with two drones.
- Ukraine risks losing at least US$8 billion in export revenue between June 2026 and June 2027 if its Black Sea ports remain closed.
